 1. The memorial monument of two borders-in-arms from Mänttä

On the pausing place of the Raate road, about 8 km from Raate Gateway towards the village of Suomussalmi there stands the memorial monument of two borders-in-arms from Mänttä.

2. Ukrainian memorial

The memorial lies about 5 km from Raatteen portti towards Suomussalmi. It has been erected in memory of thousands of fallen Ukrainian soldiers on the location of their command dugout. It has been unveiled in march of 1998.

4.  WINTER WAR EXHIBITION

The exhibion include:

Cafe:
Adjoing the exhibition is an attractive, 80-seat cafe: serving alkoholic beveranges and meals to order. Local handicrafts, postcards and war books for sale.

Surrouding terrain:

There are guns and military-vehicles outside. At the authentic battiefield areas there are the footpaths with the places and to lean-to and the campfire places.

5. MONUMENT OF WINTERWAR

The Winter War Monument is a field clad with natural stones erected in the memory of every soldier died in the battles around Suomussalmi. Memorial stones are set to all soldiers - Finnish and Soviets (Russian, Ukrainian and of other nationalities). For every dead soldier there is erected a memorial stone (About 20 000 memorial stones). Total area of the Memorial is around 30 000 - 40 000 square meters.


6. RUSSIAN MEMORIAL

To the boys of homeland The mourning Russia". The memorial statue to the dead soldiers during 1939-40. Statue stands about 800m from The Raate Gateway to the Border. It is the 1st Winter war memorial monument outside the Russian border. The statue was commited by Patriarch Aleksei II 19.9.1994. The statue was designed by the scluptor Oleg Komov.

7.THE MEMORIAL OF THE BATTLE OF THE RAATE

The commitee of non-commisioned officers erected the memorial monument to the forrestland warriors at 1963.

8. A RESTORED DEFENCELINE


On the road to Raate, about 10 km from the Raate Gateway, there are a restored platoon dugout, trenches, machine gun nests, anti-tank and anti-infantry constructions.

9. SENTRY MUSEUM

This sentry building, situated at the eastern end of the road to Raate, and build in 1923, has been used by military powers. It has been restored to the appearance of the 1930ies: things of everyday service of that time are to be seen.
